| We believe our history makes us unique and our people make us great. We're the only city in the United States named Fitzgerald. The city was founded about 30 years after the Civil War when P.H. Fitzgerald, an Indiana newspaper publisher, began the town as a "colony" of Union soldiers. As we move into a new Millenium, our citizens enjoy an abundance of new and restored homes, a variety of churches, an active arts program, and an impressive blend of retail, industrial, and agricultural growth. Drive our streets and see the loving care our people give their homes, grounds, and parks. Our outstanding schools enjoy new or remodeled buildings, and East Central Technical College provides excellent educational opportunities. | Â | Our festivals are fun. The Christmas parade is fantastic and growing each year. You'll enjoy the remarkable Blue and Gray Museum, four antique shops, and several interesting gift shops. Our banking community is extensive, as is our list of restaurants. The list of significant community partners includes the city, county, Water Light & Bond Commission, schools, church leaders, and medical practitioners. We're proud that these leaders work together to encourage and promote growth and development. Come visit the Chamber and tell us about yourself. Maybe we can share our future with you. Once you have come to know Fitzgerald, we think it will be your favorite place too! Sincerely, Betsy Giddens - Executive Director Derinda Lewis - Executive Secretary / Membership Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce P.O.
